COACHES

ÁKOS SZARKA

In my early teens, I did judo and swimming, and I was nearly fourteen when I got interested in gymnastics. I started with self-training: The acrobatic videos of Canadian artiste, acrobat Dominic Lacasse, and stuntman Joe Eigo inspired my trainings, and following their movements, I practically explored street workout, then in its infancy in Hungary. I devoted the subsequent years to competitive sport, still with a mostly own, self-dependent training programme, and after three years of active competing and by then nearly ten years of sport experience behind me, I started work as a coach. Having graduated at the Department of Recreation of the University of Physical Education, the FMT qualification at Thor Gym, and the daily development of my knowledge help me with that.

MÁTYÁS JOKHEL

  1. From this year on, street workout became part of my life. Before, I had tried several sports, but neither of them attracted me as much as this form of movement did, with which I spend most of my time of the days by now.

I graduated at the Department of Human Kinesiology of the University of Physical Education, then I acquired the FMT qualification at Thor Gym. I was a student at the Tight Hold qualification in 2022. I keep trying to be authentic and up-to-date both in practice and theory; as an athlete and a coach. My strength is dynamic elements where explosiveness, coordination and mobility play first of all a significant role. However, I feel inspired by strength elements not acquired until now, thus, I face new challenges day by day. In my commitment towards the sports discipline, my coach and professional leader, Ákos Szarka plays a significant role, with whom we have created the brand Tight Hold to make sports life in Hungary more colourful with a new training method and its programmes. I think everyone can find their exercises full of success and excitement if they train diligently, thanks to the manifold movements of street workout. Be it strength elements, explosiveness, endurance, coordinative exercises or even flexibility, all of them will be tested with us.

My results as street workout competitor:

2017 – 9th place at the hungarian championship

2019 – 3rd at the hungarian championship

2022 – 1st at the hungarian street workout world championship qualification in heavyweight category

BALÁZS RÉTHELYI

I decided at the age of nine that I would like to be a dancer. I did competitive dancing for six years, we got into the top league with my partner, but since then, I prefer another dancing style. Dance itself provided me with very good movement coordination and body awareness, which I can make use of in several fields of sports. Beside my original sport discipline, I tried other movement forms as well, but it was own bodyweight training that attracted me most, and so another big dream turned up: to be a coach.

By now, I am a professional dancing artist, and my coach career has also started, for which I have graduated as a fitness instructor and acquired the Tight Hold coach title. Training and sport influence my life significantly; I simply feel better by overcoming my boundaries every day. As a coach, I would like to pass on this feeling, and to inspire everyone not yet a sports addict to become one.

BENJAMIN LOVAS

I have been practising sport activities from I was five years old. I started with horse riding which I practised professionally for 14 years. I won plenty of national championships, and I was a member of the national team. Besides this, I started to train with bodyweight training method, which I practise nowadays as well. As the time passed, I became more and more experienced that helped me to give advices to others. This was the time when I realised I would like to give advices the people as a profession. That is why I graduated as a personal trainer. I visited the Tight Hold course as well, in order to expand my knowledges. There is alway something new in this sport, that we can learn, there is always a new challenge, there is always a path to improve yourself, and I would like to help the people  with these.

VIRÁG RÉTHELYI

Sports have always been a part of my life – anyone who knows me can tell you that I’m still a ball of energy to this day. I started ballet as a preschooler, which continued with rhythmic gymnastics in elementary school. Later, I spent six years in competitive dance, before diving into bodyweight training. At first, it was just a hobby for me, but it quickly became clear that I had finally found the sport in which I truly wanted to immerse myself, as it constantly presents new challenges and serves as a great way to unwind during everyday life. I want to share this experience with others, which is why I completed Ákos Szarka’s Tight Hold street workout coaching course and the FMT functional trainer course at Thor Gym. My main goal is to create a positive and motivating atmosphere and help everyone achieve their personal best according to their own goals.

KRISTÓF ROZSONDAI

As a child, I tried many sports, and although I pursued kayaking and gym training with great enthusiasm for over five years, I reached a low point in 2017. I had been living with chronic back and shoulder pain for years due to an injury. I consulted numerous surgeons, shoulder specialists, and physiotherapists, but my symptoms only worsened. It was in this year that I discovered bodyweight training. Within a few years, I experienced incredible progress; building strength and coordination throughout my entire body enabled me to live pain-free.

Bodyweight training offered me something I had never experienced with any other sport: I became energetic, explosive, and mobile, with my joints becoming stronger and more resilient. The muscle and strength gains, which surpassed those from gym workouts, were just a bonus. I became passionate about calisthenics, dedicating all my free time to expanding my knowledge of the sport.

I obtained two coaching certifications and then completed Ákos Szarka’s Tight Hold street workout training. My engineering work no longer fulfilled me, and my goal became to inspire others to love calisthenics as much as I do.

Bodyweight exercises can be learned by anyone, painlessly, regardless of age or training background. I am here to help anyone who turns to me by sharing my experience.
